Hi, I’m Irmela 👋

I’m a Berlin-based engineering leader who still loves writing code. Over the past 13+ years, I’ve worked across the stack, from Rails, Go, and TypeScript backends to Flutter mobile apps, most recently leading healthcare integrations teams at samedi and mobile platform teams at 1KOMMA5°. I most enjoy building products that help people organize their work or their lives.

I’ve spent most of the last seven years in leadership roles, but I’ve always stayed close to the code. Whether it’s improving a legacy codebase, setting up developer tooling, or helping teams leverage AI coding assistants and agentic workflows effectively, I like to stay hands-on as much as possible while focusing on growing people and teams.

I believe diverse teams build better products, and I deeply care about people, clean code, performance, and user experience.
